problem #16 continued - 3D modeling

I’ve never gotten to good at 3D modeling using maya, but I do believe it is essential for prototyping Augmented Reality experiences - and paired along with photoshop it can go a long way. Today I want to focus on building out 3D rooms and have projectors or light sources hitting the wall and being transformed by the space – I then want to take multiple rooms and parse them in an arial dollhouse view, so you can see multiple rooms at once.

Also if I have the time, I would like to create a UI thats very classy and clean, but at the same time mixed with roughness of a scattered mind on paper with scribbles and paint marks. I think the contrast could be cool and it reflects my values of enjoying classy things but putting a rough spin on it.

And, I went to the Art Garage in Denver to visit Katie. Art Garage is a non-profit organization that is organically spreading art throughout the community by offering classing and various interesting initiatives - out of the pure love of art. I joined for a 2 hour water color session last night and my outcome was … well … dull. I’ve never been a great painter, but I think my love for art showed in my passion while approaching the piece. Art has no right or wrong either, so I never feel guilty when painting like a 12 year old. Also, they were painting Aspen Trees – I wanted to paint my mind – so I did. Anyways, Katie gave me her email and I need to reach out to her today to discuss ways I’d like to get involved in the organization. It would be realize nice to get involved in that community - helping others and sharing art. I’ll compose a rough draft of my email here – Actually before I go deep in the animations - I’ll send the email out. Here’s what I’m going to send :o

Katie,So nice meeting you last night and thank you for letting me join the watercolor class! The Art Garage is such a wonderful organization and it’s unbelievable what you’ve been able to set-up and accomplish within the community.  You’re an amazing person and it’s clear how much effort you’ve put into to setting up your business.  I’m happy to see that you are thriving with students, classes and even now grants.
Although after seeing my paintings it’s hard to believe I was in art school, nevertheless working close with Tom, but I cannot express the internal joy I get when I see art being organically spread throughout the community for good – you are guiding the universal language of art for the specific purpose of helping others - one of the most important aspects of art - and you’ve been able to tackle it in a unique and fun way that’s helping it spread throughout Colorado.
As you continue to grow your business, it would be an honor to get involved in any capacity, so I can meet and grow with the people in your community.   Right now, I’m currently working on a design project aadktia.com and spending my days designing/animating iOS apps - to develop specific skills.  However, any free time I have I would like to contribute to your project.
Some potential ways I feel I can contribute: • Business Operations / Partnerships to help grow your brand • Help find other artists to contribute to the project• Develop curriculum for a design class - Apps, Photoshop, Animation. I can figure out how to get computers donated
These are just some preliminary thoughts based on my skillset and if any of these spark some ideas in your mind would love to chat! Thanks,
Andy

Time to watch some YouTube Maya tutorials to learn how to construct a 3D room :)
